Monday 7 August 2017, 10.00am - Wednesday 23 August 2017, 4.00pm
Gallery hours: 10am-4pm daily
Northart Gallery, Norman King Square (opposite the library), Ernie Mays Street, Northcote Shopping Centre, Northcote, Auckland
In a rare opportunity, Northart presents the work of two of Cuba’s foremost emerging visual artists.
Osmeivy Ortega is visiting New Zealand on the invitation of Otahuhu College, where he is Artist in Residence for five weeks while he assists students there to develop a large-scale woodcut mural commissioned by Auckland International Airport.
His striking woodcut prints hang alongside digitally produced posters from another prominent Cuban artist, caricaturist Yaimel Lopez.
Both explore ideas of social and political injustice in their work.
Ortega will give a floor talk on the last Sunday of the exhibition, 20 August, at 3pm.
