Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Seminar: Taking Flight – Wed 6 Sep 2017.

This year’s Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Seminar takes its inspiration from ngā manu o te moana (seabirds).

Tīkapa Moana / The Hauraki Gulf is a global seabird hotspot with 27 seabird species making it their home.

Some, like the taiko (black petrel), breed nowhere else. Many roam the world oceans between visits, their patterns mirroring the broader workings and health of the marine ecosystem.

Hear stories from kaitiaki, scientists, artists, fishers and conservation workers that will inspire and enlighten.

Can seabirds point the way to how we should consider, manage and utilise the Hauraki Gulf into the future?

What makes these amazing flying machines tick?

The day includes a catered lunch and teas, with display and poster space available.
