Peter Pan is a brand new musical by Jonathan Alver and James Doy, based on the classical tale by J M Barrie.

NYTC is proud to present a dazzling musical theatre re-imagining of Peter Pan from the talented team of Alver & Doy, 7-9 December at the Aotea Centre in Auckland.

Honouring the original text, but reimagined for a 21st century audience, Wendy take centre stage as she charts a path in Neverland from youthful innocence to changing the world alongside the adored characters of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys.

Featuring 20 newly composed songs, the revival of forgotten Barrie characters including the Never Bird and the Mermaid, and a colourful and exhilarating production featuring original choreography and flying, colourful costumes, mechanical creatures, and stunning lighting and digital effects, the premiere production will feature a cast of 220 on stage in a show destined to become part of the musical theatre canon.

Writers-composers Jonathan Alver and James Doy have both devoted much of their professional careers to the musical theatre stage, with extensive creative experience as musicians, producers, directors, composers and writers.

NYTC Artistic Director Jonathan Alver has a degree in voice. He has produced, directed and created work for the stage in the UK, the US and New Zealand, including in the West End and for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and led major arts companies.

General Manager and Musical Director of NYTC, James Doy is an experienced musical director and a virtuoso pianist. Voted NZ Musician of the Year in 2014, James’s performance career includes playing keyboard for many international musical productions including Wicked and Matilda.
