A Song of Land and Sea is a rich exhibition experience celebrating the wildness and beauty of our native animals and landscapes.
Created by multifaceted artist and designer Samantha Stokes, large digitally created works explore the native animals of New Zealand.
She shares her creative process in video content accompanying each artwork, providing a behind the scenes on her digital painting.
Most happy when splitting her time between adventuring outdoors and creative pursuits, Samantha’s connection with our wildlife and landscapes is what inspired this series of work.
Depicting some of our native animals that are endangered or threatened, Samantha is proud to support various conservation efforts to donate funds from works sold towards conservation efforts for those animals.
Alongside the exhibition are two day-long, youth art workshops in mid July in conjunction with Creative Matters.
These will be an opportunity to learn some interesting facts about some NZ native animals and the environment they live in, and hear from the artist about her artistic process and exhibition and respond with your own art making.
Visit creativematters.co.nz/artworkshops-for-children to find out more about the workshops.
