Author, adventurer and entrepreneur Sequoia Schmidt returns to Auckland this July on a tour of her latest book, Changing Gears: Ups & Downs on the New Zealand Road.

In 2017 she returned to Aotearoa from the US to reconnect with her roots by way of cycling the length of the country. Sequoia began her month-long bike journey and found that she connected with much more than just the land she calls home. She found that resurfaced memories from her childhood, along with the people she encountered on her way, led her to understand much more about herself and her strengths.

Changing Gears is an honest, entertaining and inspiring account of Sequoia’s solo cycling odyssey. Through this book, Sequoia brings the reader into her own mind on her adventure and connects us with the cathartic sensation that occurs when we let go of our need to be surrounded by things, and simply live for a moment with only ourselves.

Join us for an informal chat with the author in the Central City Library ground floor events space.
