Tēnā koutou and warmest greetings.

Papakura Art Gallery is pleased to announce our annual Tautai - Guiding Pacific Arts Trust supported exhibition.

Introducing four local Papakura artists of Oceanic ancestry who tackle the ideas surrounding known and forgotten memorials in Papakura.

Hau is an investigation around the unspoken stories of Papakura.

Hidden histories and taboo topics are revealed through relatable considered narratives.

Artists are asked to respond to issues surrounding historical social constructs within Papakura.

Exploring memorials or public markers of death from both a historical and contemporary context.

Hau pervades the whole body yet is not located in any particular part of the body.

A portion of Hau can be gathered in a lock of hair, clothing or even from a footstep in the soil.

A memorial, item or place where someone who has passed can possess a person’s Hau.

Sat 28 Aug, 11am-1pm

Grief can have a significant effect on one's life.

Come and listen to a panel of artists share how they navigate the loss of a loved one through their art practice.
