Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero (Central City Library) is celebrating 125 years since New Zealand women led the way to the polling booths.
Securing the right to vote was a game changing moment for the wāhine of Aotearoa, and the world.
Some stood on soapboxes, others penned powerful prose, and some quietly murmured in the ears of their loved ones.
From the loudest of roars to the gentlest of whispers, the victory demonstrated the power of collective action in bringing about meaningful social change.
At Central City Library we are celebrating the grassroots actions of everyday people in the historic and ongoing campaign for gender equality.
From August to November, there will be a rich programme of activities for all ages happening throughout the library.
