In the 1950s a scientist at the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research proposed a national research facility that could control the environment in which plants grew.

That facility opened in 1970 and through film, archival material and sculpture Melissa Laing tells the story of a unique intersection of science, technology and social history in New Zealand.
