The 75ha domain is one of the region's oldest parks and has been developed around the cone of an extinct volcano.
Within the park, the Wintergardens features two glasshouses of vibrant tropical and temperate plants, a formal courtyard and pond, and a fernery within an old quarry.
Auckland Museum, which is free for Aucklanders, has three levels of galleries to explore.
