Myers Park is the place to play
Waitematā Local Board Chair Shale Chambers and Deputy Chair Pippa Coom get into the spirit of the Myers Park Centenary in February 2015.

A formerly underused city park, once known for its steep sides and unsafe paths, is fast becoming a favourite destination for Auckland families.

The Myers Park redevelopment is a significant project for Waitematā Local Board, which saw the park’s potential when it was used as a section of the Rugby World Cup Fan Trail in 2011.

Continued improvements

State-of-the-art lighting and CCTV have since been added along the pathways.

Stage one – completed last summer – included improvements to sight-lines through enhanced planting and the construction of a children’s playground, which was awarded top honours at the 2015 Resene Total Colour Awards.

Stage two, which includes exciting elements such as a splash pad, will be in place by the end of summer.

The Mayoral Drive underpass entrance to the park will be renovated in mid-2016.

Join the fun – bring your family to Myers Park this summer!
