Green light for local projects
Hibiscus and Bays Red Beach Park

Following consideration of 534 local submissions to the annual plan, Hibiscus and Bays Local Board is carrying out a variety of initiatives that will have direct community benefits.

They include:

  • play equipment upgrades and better shade protection for playgrounds in busy reserve areas
  • a toilet upgrade at Waiake Esplanade Reserve and a new toilet for Sherwood Reserve
  • an upgrade for Stanmore Bay Skate Park
  • opening a community hub for Millwater residents
  • streams, waterways and environmental restoration projects, including Love Our Bays, North-West Wildlink and Weiti Wildlink
  • identifying town centre projects in Silverdale, Ōrewa and Browns Bay
  • funding for community projects and events.

In line with strong community endorsement, the local board will continue to advocate at every opportunity for an earlier delivery of Penlink.

It will also advocate for increased service levels for parks maintenance, and for mechanical edging to be reinstated instead of chemical spraying.
