Rocket Park playground review 2
There's something for everyone at Rocket Park.

We’re taking a look at some of the best playgrounds around Auckland. This week: Rocket Park in Mt Albert War Memorial Park, 751 New North Road, St Lukes

Rocket Park is an Auckland playground institution – families come from all over the city to let their kids scale the bright blue-and-red rocket that's the centrepiece of the play area.

It's not the only great feature though, with a big range of equipment on offer for preschoolers to pre-teens.

What's on offer?

On a busy day there can be a waiting line to play on the popular rocket, which has three levels to scale.

There's a swing set, too, and little ones are catered for with a colourful set of equipment just for them, including a small fort with a slide.

There's also a Liberty swing for children in wheelchairs.

The playground is partially fenced for safety, with astroturf, marbled concrete and a cushioned play surface.

Family fun

There's adult gym equipment around the perimeter of the playground, as well as a grassy area where families can play games.

There are shade sails throughout the play area trees dotted around the perimeter, helping everyone be sun safe. You'll also find public toilets and picnic tables for your convenience.

It’s best to walk to Rocket Park as the only parking is on the street.
