Ultra-fast internet on the cards for Rodney area

Rodney Ward Councillor Greg Sayers has welcomed an announcement by the government that funding will be set aside to extend the ultra-fast broadband programme across the Rodney area.

“Ultra-fast broadband being extended out to parts of Rodney is a huge win,” says Councillor Sayers.

“This is key infrastructure as Auckland, particularly the north, continues to grow. The investment will mean the groundwork is laid so businesses, students and residents can access quality broadband services.”

Cr Sayers says Auckland Council will continue to support its application for fibre to be extended to more rural areas under the government’s Rural Broadband Initiative.

He says Rodney could also benefit from inclusion in the Mobile Black Spot Fund. This fund aims to improve availability of mobile services to support safety on state highways and enhance visitor experience at key tourist destinations that do not have coverage from mobile providers.
