Maungakiekie-Tāmaki has a number of housing and infrastructure projects underway.
Finding a balance between growth, protecting the environment, and funding is always key, so what are your priorities for the future of Auckland?
Auckland Council’s Planning Committee, one of three committees of the whole governing body, guides the growth and physical development of Auckland.
It focuses on land-use planning, housing and providing appropriate infrastructure.
Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward Councillor Denise Lee, who is deputy chair of the Planning Committee, says, “The committee is where many considerations such as infrastructure strategy, the unitary plan, built heritage and housing policy take place. While we have responsibility for regional decisions, there is often a flow-down to the local. One major responsibility is Tāmaki regeneration.”
Councillor Lee encourages everyone to submit on Auckland Council’s Annual Budget. “Without your feedback, elected members can’t make informed decisions for Auckland,” she says.
