Volunteers and community groups are the backbone of any community so Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board wants these unsung heroes to have their moment in the spotlight.

Nominations are now open for the local board’s 2017 Community Volunteer Awards and it wants to know about those outstanding organisations and individuals who give their time to make a positive difference to the Mangere-Ōtāhuhu community.

“There are so many people and groups out there who give selflessly of their time for others," says local board chair Lemauga Lydia Sosene.

"This is our chance to say thank you for what you do, thank you for making a difference to our community.”

There are three award categories:

  • Champion organisation
