Curtains wanted to help families in need

Published: 4 September 2017
Curtain banks clean donated curtains and line them if necessary, getting them ready to be installed in someone's home.

Full-length, lined curtains are vital for making a home warm, so on behalf of the Curtain Banks, Auckland Council is asking for second-hand curtains to be donated to help sick and vulnerable children and families living in cold damp housing.

During August Aucklanders generously donated around 100 curtains, but more are needed.

The Curtain banks clean curtains and line them if necessary. Habitat for Humanity installs them far and wide for families that meet the Healthy Homes Initiative's criteria.

If you have any full-length curtains in good condition (please, no mouldy curtains, blinds or rails), you can drop them at the following places until 1 December  2017.
