The upgrades to Fearon Park and Harold Long Reserve in Mt Roskill are progressing well, and the first stage is almost complete.
The project will reduce flooding in the area around Parau Street and Fearon Park. The work will make the area more connected, and will include a new playground and open space.
Puketāpapa Local Board Chair Harry Doig says the improvements will make a considerable difference.
“It’s always important to eliminate flooding issues as community safety is paramount,” he says.
“An added bonus is improving the health and recreational space so more people can enjoy Fearon Park and Harold Long Reserve.”
The second stage of the project, which is expected to start at the end of 2017, involves a new footpath connecting Fearon Park to Harold Long Reserve, improved lighting, park furniture and an upgraded entry from Akarana Avenue.
