Supporting our native species

Kaipātiki Local Board is proud to support the community-led project Pest Free Kaipātiki.

Over the past three years, the board has invested more than $400,000 to support volunteers who make a difference to Kaipātiki’s bush and open spaces.

“Local residents have advocated for track improvements and weeded tracks, and have shared their knowledge about native plants and weeds,” says local board chair Danielle Grant.

“The Kaipātiki Restoration Network has mobilised people to work together in our reserves and parks, and has successfully established Pest Free Kaipātiki.”

Kaipātiki Local Board now funds local expertise and practical assistance to residents and volunteer groups in terms of vital tools and equipment, as well as the removal of rubbish from streams and weeds.

Over the coming year, the board will also be funding new signage, trapping devices and other pest control.
