Generation Ignite is a youth trust based in New Lynn.

Whau Local Board is helping fund Generation Ignite, a New Lynn-based youth trust that aims to connect and inspire young people in west Auckland.

“We follow a ‘find a need and fill it’ model,” says Generation Ignite co-founder and general manager Jo Noema.

“We’re committed to responsiveness to the needs of the young people in our ’hood."

“We estimate that more than 300 people benefit from our work in the New Lynn community every month.”

In recognition of food insecurities among our young people and in our wider community Generation Ignite operates a foodbank, community lunch and community garden.

They also run CampIGNITE, which provides fully funded camping experiences where young people can experience sleeping in a tent, building a fire and tramping.

“Generation Ignite does so much amazing work for young people,” says Whau Local Board Chair Tracy Mulholland.

“We are lucky to have them working in our area.”
