Splash pad in Pakuranga temporarily closed.

The new splash pad at Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre in Pakuranga has been temporarily closed.

The splash pad, which opened last week as part of the council’s strategic partnership between Auckland Council and ANZ, will be closed for the next few days due to safety concerns around the surface.

“We have had some fantastic feedback from parents and children about the new splash pad at Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre in Pakuranga. We’ve not received any incident reports; however, we have observed some behaviour relating to the surface of the splash pad that we’re not 100 per cent comfortable with and which reflects some feedback we have received from parents,” says Auckland Council Head of Active Recreation Rob McGee.

“We appreciate this is a let-down for some people who were hoping to visit the splash pad over the coming days but the safety of our customers is paramount. We will be working through identifying and resolving this surface issue as quickly as possible.”
