Toot toot! Auckland Libraries’ bright and colourful mobile libraries are hitting the road this summer and bringing busloads of fun activities to your favourite events.

Look out for the Maui Pātaka Kōrero Kaewa – Mobile Library at Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival this weekend and at Waitangi ki Manukau on Waitangi Day. The Maui Pātaka Kōrero Kaewa – Mobile Library’s outer walls have been brought to life with eye-catching artwork by talented Māori artist, Zak Waipara, and feature contemporary interpretations of Māui legends.

If you’re going to Waitangi @ Waititi on Waitangi Day, jump aboard the Pātaka Kōrero Kaewa – Pirate Mobile Library. The pirates and treasure that adorn the outside of the bus are sure to tempt you inside.

The mobile libraries will offer a range of fun interactive activities for all ages at these events, including storytelling, weaving and make-your-own mini waka or kite.

Making reading more accessible

Auckland Libraries’ four mobile libraries do an important job of reaching Aucklanders in places and at times that are different from those of our 55 community libraries.

They carry a range of books, magazines, audiobooks and other items that suit customers of all ages and are especially helpful for those who may find it challenging to visit a library branch.

And if you’re not an Auckland Libraries member yet, join for free at any of our mobile libraries or at your local branch. Head to aucklandlibraries.govt.nz to find out more.
