Members of the Environment and Community Committee received an update on work the council's economic growth agency has done on 'Destination AKL 2025', ATEED's strategy to guide Auckland's visitor economy.
Previously presented to councillors at a workshop in November 2017, feedback been captured and combined with input from a broad range of industry stakeholders, resulting in the latest version presented today.
A detailed ATEED plan for Major Events, Business Events, Tourism and International Education will follow.
The strategy will be publicly launched in early May.

Items 1-8 were administrative items. There was no public or local board input.
Item 9: Destination Strategy update
Steve Armitage, General Manager Destination, ATEED updated the committee on the Destination Strategy prior to its public launch.
Item 10: Reserve Revocation Report - 129R Bairds Road, Ōtara
This site has been cleared for disposal by the Finance and Performance Committee, as the property is no longer required by Auckland Council for reserve purposes. The property is currently an unclassified reserve held for the purpose of off street parking.
The committee resolved to submit a request to the Minister of Conservation to uplift the reserve status of 129R Bairds Road, Otara, on the basis that there is sufficient off-street parking in the immediate vicinity.
Item 11: Reserve Revocation Report - 32 Harbour View Road, Te Atatu
This site has been cleared for disposal by the Finance and Performance Committee, subject to satisfactory conclusion of required Reserves Act processes.
It is no longer required for reserve purposes, as the area is already adequately served with open space.
The committee resolved to submit a request to the Minister of Conservation to uplift the reserve status of 32 Harbour View Road, Te Atatu. On approval, staff will prepare a report seeking approval from the Planning Committee to change the open space zone to an appropriate residential zone.
