Publish Date : 13 Apr 2018

A poetry retreat in Greece and an electroacoustic music conference in Italy are on the cards for two Manurewa Rangatahi Youth Scholarship recipients.

Manurewa Local Board has awarded 14 scholarships to help local 14- to 24-year-olds to be the best they can be.

Zechariah (Zech) Soakai intends to use the $2000 scholarship to attend the Rhodes Poetry Retreat in Greece, where he is looking forward to training under retreat facilitator – Australian slam poet Luka Lesson.

Read his poem, The Lucky Cricket, and find out more about his story from the Manukau Courier.

Garling Wu is heading to the 2018 Electroacoustic Musical Studies Conference in Florence while Ayden Toa'fa is off on a cultural language tour to improve his knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture and language.
