Ōrākei Local Board brings community together

Published: 10 July 2018

The Ōrākei Local Board area offers a range of community facilities for residents to use via Auckland Council’s Community Places unit. These include council-run and community-led venues.

“These spaces bring the community together,” says Ōrākei Local Board Chair Kit Parkinson.

“We have spaces that allow people to come together to share common interests, have fun, participate, connect, interact, discover and learn new things.”

Joining local board members Ros Rundle and David Wong, Parkinson said, “Our local libraries, the Barfoot &Thompson Stadium (formerly ASB) in Kohimarama; the Ellerslie YMCA and College Riffles in Remuera, our sports clubrooms and church halls all mean that Ōrākei is well served by council-funded community spaces.”

A list of community facilities in Auckland is available at the Auckland Council website.
