An improved children’s playground and a new FIBA standard 3x3 basketball court have recently been installed at North Shore’s Unsworth Reserve.

The new playground features swings and seesaws for preschool children, a spinner and a climbing module suitable for primary school age children.

The new basketball court has been built next to the playground, and weather permitting, will have its final surfacing applied in September when the air and ground temperature are both warmer and dryer.

Upper Harbour Local Board has also committed funding to replace the old basketball hoop at Malcolm Hahn Reserve in Whenuapai, and installation of a brand new one by the hall in Herald Island Domain.

“Both are due to be installed over the next week or so,” says Upper Harbour Local Board Chair Margaret Miles.

“We have also just installed new spectator seating at Bay City Park in Northcross for local football and cricket, and added several new pieces of play equipment at Glen Bay Close Reserve in Pinehill.”

“We certainly don’t have a lot of money, but we do try our best to spread it evenly and fairly right across our board area,” says Miles.
