Local kids will be thrilled to hear of plans to install pontoons at more Hibiscus and Bays beaches.

Hibiscus and Bays Local Board has allocated $40,000 to install new pontoons at Browns Bay and Little Manly beaches in time for summer. The exact timing of installation depends on the consenting process.

Deputy Chair Janet Fitzgerald says that locals and visitors alike love the area’s many beaches and spend a lot of time there.

“Pontoons are great for swimmers and for jumping off on a hot summer day. By installing more pontoons at suitable locations around the coast, beachgoers have access to another fun activity.”

Several locations at East Coast Bays and Hibiscus Coast were considered for pontoons. Each site was assessed according to health and safety criteria, tide access, other water activities, shelter from strong winds, and maintenance costs.

This summer, pontoons will also be installed at Arkles Bay, Manly Beach, Stanmore Bay, Tindalls Bay and Waiake Beach.
