Go out in the city centre

For an evening out in the city, Heart of the City has you sorted. Between waterfront walks, heaps of dining choices, and some in the best venues in Auckland, there’s something for everyone. Head over to Heart of the City for the full list.

Get some fresh air

For some Valentine's Day family fun, get the whole whānau together for a BBQ dinner – we’ve already scouted some great spots! What better way to get everyone together than by firing up the grill in one of Auckland’s beautiful parks.

Also, check out Akl Paths before you head out – it’s a digital platform that allows you to discover more than 200 walking and cycle paths across the region.

Ring in Lunar New Year together

Celebrate the Year of the Pig with the lantern-only opening night of the Auckland Lantern Festival at The Domain and a light show on the Harbour Bridge on Valentine's Day.

Catch a romantic movie

Pack a picnic and cuddle up under the stars at Movies in Park’s special Valentine's Day screening. La La Land will be showing at Nixon Park in Kingsland, with the movie starting at 8.30pm and pre-movie entertainment from 6.20pm.

Join our SnapAKL challenge and snap photos of yourself cosying up at Movies in Parks, you could win prizes!

Go on a blind date...with a book

Stop by your local library and take a chance on a mystery book this Valentine's Day. The books are selected and wrapped by librarians, with a few clues to help you choose your date. Multiple ‘dates’ allowed and each one puts you in the draw to win an overnight stay or high tea at Cordis Hotel!
