We’ve had so many requests from businesses and groups hoping to take part, that we're extending the closing date for Matariki Festival 2019 event submissions.

The new closing date is Friday 15 March.

With two extra weeks (the old date was 1 March) there’s no excuse why you can’t be part of this year’s festival!

Register For Matariki

Matariki Festival takes place from 22 June to 14 July in Auckland this year, so if you’re part of a group with an event in mind, now is the time to let the festival organisers know what you’re planning.

Expressions of interest are welcome for activities in these categories:

  • Hapori - Community
  • Kai - Food
  • Kiriata - Film
  • Kōrero - Lectures / Presentations
  • Ngā Mahi Toi - Visual Arts
  • Taiao - Environment
  • Wānanga - Workshops
  • Whakangahau - Performance
  • Whare Tapere - Theatre

If accepted, your project or event will be included in the Matariki Festival 2019 website and may be promoted through our other festival activity such as social media, print or publicity. You are encouraged also to promote your own event.

Funding

Please note the submissions process doesn’t encompass programme funding. However, there is a range of funding opportunities supporting arts and culture delivery from Auckland Council and external sources that you may be able to apply for. These are:
