Council's contribution to Lomu memorials

Auckland Council worked with the government, the Lomu family and the rugby community on two public events to celebrate the life of Jonah Lomu.

The council was primarily responsible for the community celebration of Jonah’s life, ‘Aho Faka Famili, held at the Vodafone Events Centre.

The council’s contribution towards that event was $89,703.72. This was comprised of $44,039 for venue hire, $37,500 catering and $4,687.50 security.

The balance was made up of items including transport, photography, toilets, medical staff and in memoriam books.
