Pukekohe sports centre complete

Construction of the Bledisloe Park Sports Centre in Pukekohe is now complete. The centre was built by the Bledisloe Park Society.

Funding for the project came from:

  • Franklin Local Board, which also funded a new car park and public toilet block
  • Foundation North
  • the NZ Community Trust
  • the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board.

The facility provides a home for Pukekohe Metro Cricket Club and Pukekohe Association Football Club.

Bledisloe Park Society chairman Trevor Gill says, "There have been a few hurdles along the way, but we persevered and now have a fabulous facility that will be an asset for the whole Franklin community."

The two-storey building features six changing rooms, public toilets and a referees’ room on the lower floor, and a club area, cooking facilities and office on the upper floor.

Future works on the site include reconfiguring the cricket pitches and removal of the old cricket club rooms.
