New faces at Auckland Council

While Phil Goff is mayor elect with 47.6 per cent of the vote, two incumbents were unseated in Rodney and Manurewa-Papakura and the North Shore ward is too close to call.

Progress results also show sitting councillors who lost their seats include Calum Penrose, who was beaten by Daniel Newman in the Manurewa-Papakura ward, and Penny Webster, who lost to Greg Sayers in the Rodney ward.

New faces in Manukau, Ōrākei wards

In Manukau, Fa’anana Efeso Collins is the new ward councillor replacing retiring local politician Arthur Anae. He joins Alf Filipaina. Desley Simpson replaces retiring councillor Cameron Brewer in the Ōrākei ward.

North Shore too close to call

In the North Shore ward, Chris Darby has been returned. However, the result for the second ward seat is too close to call, with Richard Hills 71 votes ahead of Grant Gillon.

Close contests across Auckland

There are close contests for local board representation in Upper Harbour, Kaipātiki, Devonport-Takapuna, Henderson-Massey, Great Barrier and Albert-Eden.

In Puketāpapa there are three candidates within 3 per cent of each other for the sixth and final seat while in Waitematā four people are within 4.3 per cent of each other for the final of the seven seats.

Three local board members in the Wairoa subdivision of the Franklin Local Board have been elected unopposed.

Over 376,000 votes have been counted at this progress result stage which represents 36.5 per cent of registered voters.
