Gulf views, a grass-mound ‘wave’ sculpture and a fenced toddlers’ playground will delight visitors to Long Bay’s newest park.
Located at Te Oneroa Way, the one-hectare park is next to the Long Bay Regional and Long Bay Heritage parks.
It’s the fourth of 12 parks being created as part of a partnership between Long Bay developer Todd Property and Hibiscus and Bays Local Board.
Board chair Julia Parfitt says this park is an important link in the network and the fenced playground comes from public feedback.
“Families will enjoy everything on offer. The park is in a prime spot with incredible views and connects seamlessly to the regional park.”
Stephen Martin, Todd Property General Manager Land Development, says the park is unique in terms of scale and views.
“In the earliest stages of development, we realised the location was special. Seeing it take shape as a community asset has been the fulfilment of a long-held aspiration shared with our local board.”
The park caters for pre-schoolers to teens and features:
- a fenced toddlers’ playground
- a range of adventure equipment including water play gear, slides, a basket swing and wooden play towers
- a viewing platform overlooking Hauraki Gulf
- a large-scale sculpture with soil shaped into mounds that mimic waves
- picnic tables and a walkway network.
