Anzac Day is a time to reflect on the servicemen and servicewomen, past and present, who have displayed courage and self-sacrifice serving our country.

Services 

Anzac Day services are being held across the Auckland region on Thursday 25 April 2019.

Prepare for your local service by downloading the programme (available here from 23 April) onto your phone or device.

When attending any service, we strongly recommend you bring water with you, wear a hat and make sure you’ve put on sunscreen.

After the services, the public are invited to commemorate Anzac Day at their local RSA.

Māori Television broadcast

If you can’t attend an Anzac Day event in person, the Dawn Service in front of Auckland War Memorial Museum will be broadcast live on Māori Television. 

Lights

Vector Lights on Auckland Harbour Bridge will shine to commemorate Anzac Day with a stunning light and sound show (23-25 April, 6pm-midnight). Visit vector.co.nz/lights for the accompanying audio track. 

Auckland War Memorial Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira will also light up on on 23, 24 and 25 April for Anzac Day.

Public transport

Auckland Transport's normal Sunday and Public Holiday timetables for public transport will apply.  

There will be additional services to the dawn service at Auckland War Memorial Museum in the Domain and free travel all day on Thursday 25 April for SuperGold and Veteran’s SuperGold cardholders, plus uniformed servicemen and women, and retired services personnel with RSA membership cards.

CENTRAL AUCKLAND & HAURAKI GULF ISLANDS

Auckland Domain Dawn Service

Assemble: 5.30am in the Auckland War Memorial Museum underground carpark.
Service: 6am at Auckland Domain in front of Auckland War Memorial Museum.
Road closures and parking restrictions: 25 April, 12am-4pm on Cenotaph Road, Football Road, Lovers Lane, Maunsell Road Extension, Museum Circuit, The Crescent, Titoki Street, Wintergarden Road.
Parking: Free parking available on the Auckland Domain sports fields (in the event of bad weather, parking on the sports fields will not be permitted. Decision will be made on 24 April at 2pm – check back here for details). Underground car park, south and west sides of Auckland Museum will be closed. Authorised vehicles only. Secure Parking will offer parking at The Old Brewery, corner Suiter St and Khyber Pass Rd, for a gold coin donation – proceeds to the RSA. Attendants are on site to collect donations, use of the pay machines is not required.
Additional information: Only small handbags will be permitted into the service. Essential larger items, such as nappies or baby food, must be brought in a clear zip-lock bag. Bringing water, a hat and sunscreen is recommended.

Audio Description of the Auckland Domain Dawn Service

Details: Thursday 25 April, 4.40am-7am at Auckland Domain.
Booking: Booking is essential and must be received by Thursday 18 April. To book, email Nicola at Audio Described Aotearoa audiodescribedaotearoa@gmail.com or call or text her on 021 035 8513 (information required: Name, address, email, mobile phone number, how many headsets are needed, and do you need a sighted guide).
Assembly: Gather at the Blind Foundation and arrive at Auckland Domain from Maunsell Road Ext to Auckland Museum underground carpark at 5am. A staff member will walk with you to an assigned spot near the cenotaph area at 5.15am. Please note, this reserved area will be opened to the public at 5.15am (if space allows).
