During the month of October, the Warkworth region celebrates the 50th Kowhai Festival with a number of events.
From a Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Warkworth Museum, to a Mobility Scooter Derby at the local rest home, sports have a go days, to a Variety Concert, a Ukulele Festival, a Great Debate, a River Peagant and an outdoor Movie Night.
The programme offers many events of all sorts for the toddler up to the seniors.

Huge Day Out

On Sunday 13 October, the biggest event of the Kowhai Festival takes place in the heart of Warkworth.
This is a street festival with a lot of stalls, music and entertainment.
There’s a walking parade at noon, a dog show, a mobile farm, the Puhoi Axemen and Tai Chi groups show, and many local artists will entertain on a music stage, culminating with a concert of White Chapel Jak. The garden bar will be open till 6pm.
The whole day is free, with many activities for the whole family.
The festival will run throughout the main Queen Street, Warkworth as well as Baxter Street and Wharf Street. The streets will be closed to traffic.

We’re proud to celebrate the 50th Kowhai Festival with a very special Kowhai Festival Movie Night: The Greatest Showman (PG) with Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zac Efron.
The movie starts just after 8pm, while there will be some relaxing music and a coffee stall from 7pm.
