Labour Weekend markets
Markets have always been popular annual attractions on Auckland's Labour Weekend calendar.
Head to the Mission Bay Art & Craft Market on Monday 26 October for a variety of arts and crafts, gifts, jewellery, dog accessories, designer fashion for all ages, tasty food options and much more.
Also on Monday, the Piha Labour Day Market is fundraising for the Piha Community Preschool with market stalls, kids' activities, and food and drinks for sale.
On Sunday 25 October, there's the Orewa Artisan Market selling quality artisanal products and the Wynyard Quarter Market AFM with art, design, food and family entertainment at the Auckland Fish Market.
Fun for the family
On Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, explore Night Lights at MOTAT in Western Springs. There will be light-based art installations, live music, aerial performance and a range of delicious food truck options.
On Saturday, Repco Takapuna Rocks is a free family fun day with classic cars, bikes and hot rods, plus live music, markets and more.
Book now for the Spark 5G Race Zone at the Emirates Team New Zealand base in Wynyard Quarter. This free, all-ages experience showcases the amazing tech the team uses to make the boat go faster as they prepare for the 36th America’s Cup.
Arts in the Ville is an annual festival and art trail in Helensville across Labour Weekend (24-26 October). Take advantage of this great chance to view, discuss and purchase art pieces from more than 75 artists across 33 venues.
Also connecting artists and art-lovers over the weekend is the Franklin Arts Trail. Take up this opportunity to visit and chat with Franklin artists in their studios and in local galleries.
Local artists throughout Mahurangi West, Kaipara Flats, Warkworth, Snells Beach, Algies Bay, Sandspit, Omaha, Tawharanui and Leigh are also opening their studios across the long weekend for the Mahurangi Artist's Studio Trail.

Auckland's on-stage offering has something for everyone over the long weekend.
The supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical Mary Poppins is practically perfect family entertainment, with shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Civic.
Also in the city centre, Basement Theatre has some interesting shows on Friday and Saturday evening. Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee fuses two of New Zealand's great passions, comedy and spelling, while Our Modern Earth uses recycled materials and dance to explore one of the greatest threats to mankind, climate change.
On Friday or Saturday night, prepare for laughter, puppetry and a dash of Indian disco with Paradise or the Impermanence of Ice Cream at TAPAC in Western Springs and Autonomy fuses contemporary, hip-hop, urban movement and modern dance for an entertaining night out at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre in Newmarket.
The Off Broadway Theatre's Big Band Weekend in Papakura on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon serves up a big range of tunes and songs to suit all tastes, while Viola and Piano Duo at Rannoch in Epsom offers an intimate chamber recital at the art-filled private heritage residence on Monday evening.
