Lantern Festival is Auckland’s biggest cultural festival and New Zealand’s premiere annual four-day festival celebrating Chinese New Year, Chinese culture and Auckland’s Chinese communities.

Lantern Festival will take place from 25-28 February 2021 and has a new home on Auckland’s waterfront, on Captain Cook and Marsden Wharves.

The new waterfront location puts festival-goers at the heart of where the spectacle of the 36th America’s Cup will be taking place; a short walk from the America’s Cup Village and other events on that weekend, including Auckland Art Fair.

Enjoy hundreds of elaborate handmade Chinese lanterns on display, cultural song, music, and dance performances, craft demonstrations, sponsor activations and competitions, retail and food stalls and a fireworks display.

This will be a free, family-friendly event, with two public sessions each day – lunch and dinner.

Further information will be available closer to the event.
