Watch: kids explain recycling changes

Last Updated : 05 Jul 2016

Shiny new recycling bins will be gracing properties in Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, North Shore and Waitākere from today (1 July) as changes to recycling collections take effect.

It’s been New Zealand’s biggest ever bin rollout with more than 210,000 households affected. This means if you live in Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, North Shore or Waitākere your service is changing. These changes may be a little inconvenient at first so we appreciate your patience. One of these is a change in collection day - to make life easier we’ve set up a free text reminder service. Just text your address to 3169 and we’ll remind you the day before your first new collection.

If you live in Waitakere or the North Shore and you use the council operated rubbish collection, this service will also change to the same day as your recycling collection.

Residents with a non-council rubbish collection should contact their provider for any changes. Please note council does not currently provide a rubbish collection service in Rodney and the Hibiscus Coast.

Check out our video below for the details of changes to your collections.
