Aucklanders can now view their council’s performance in a number of important areas at a glance, thanks to a new initiative launched this week.

The Progress Snapshot is designed to let citizens easily assess the council in the areas that matter most to them such as transport and finances, and services like libraries and parks.

Chief Executive Stephen Town says the Progress Snapshot is part of an ongoing commitment to greater transparency and builds on the publication of the council’s three-year Performance Plan last month.

“The snapshot complements our Performance Plan and is a way of showing Aucklanders that the things that matter most to them are a priority for the council too,” he says.

“While the Performance Plan is about three-year, big picture outcomes for Aucklanders, the snapshot gives people a chance to see how we’re delivering against our day-to-day goals. Some measurements will be below target and will raise concerns, however this also shows us the areas to focus on and report improvements over time.”

The snapshot will be refined based on feedback to ensure that it’s relevant and useful for Aucklanders.
