Waterview playground review
Water Reserve offers everything from a playground to water features

We’re taking a look at some of the best playgrounds around Auckland. This week: Waterview Reserve, 31 Herdman Street, Waterview

This playground is a relatively new addition to the neighbourhood, having opened late 2015, but already it's a firm favourite for kids of all ages.

What's on offer?

There are water-play areas, slides, swings, roundabouts, and plenty of things to climb on.

The sea-blue ground cover and sand make it feel almost like being at the beach – and there's volleyball, sand equipment and a mini digger to get stuck in with.

A learn-to-cycle track surrounds and weaves through the playground, and when it's time for a rest, you can cool off in the shade of the gazebo.

There is easy wheelchair and pram access to all equipment except the sand.

More to do

There's lots nearby in the reserve, with sports courts and a large grassed area for play.

You'll also find barbecue facilities, public toilets, picnic tables and drinking fountains, making it a perfect place to head for a family day out.

A skate park and BMX track have recently opened, making this park a real one-stop wonder for everyone to enjoy.
