Work on stage one of the Chamberlain Park Masterplan will start in early 2018.

As part of stage one, a playground will be built on the western side of the park, open space will be made available and the restoration of Meola Creek will begin.

A recent article by The Spinoff debunks some of the inaccurate perceptions surrounding the redevelopment.

The golf course will retain 18 holes, but one green and three tees will be relocated.

Albert-Eden Local Board is responsible for the development and future use of the park, and chair Peter Haynes says making it more accessible has several benefits.

“Chamberlain Park is an Albert-Eden gem, and we want to make it more accessible for everyone," he says.

“By adding a new playground, shared paths and other amenities we’re allowing more people to enjoy it.”

Future stages of the masterplan involve replacing the golf course with a nine-hole course, driving range, practice facilities and cycleway connections. The start date for this stage has not been confirmed.
