New Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward Councillor Josephine Bartley was sworn in as an Auckland councillor on 22 February.

New Auckland Councillor Josephine Bartley was sworn in on Thursday 22 February. 

Councillor Bartley is the new councillor for the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward and the first Pasifika woman to be elected to Auckland Council.

In her maiden speech, Councillor Bartley spoke of the importance of the community, environment and supporting young people, and emphasised the council’s role in helping communities to ‘do well, live well and be well’.

Mayor Phil Goff welcomed Councillor Bartley and congratulated her on becoming the newest member of Auckland Council.
