Nominations open for Mangere-Otahuhu Volunteer Awards

It’s that time of the year again when we recognise the unsung heroes who continuously contribute to the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu community through their volunteer work.

Nominations are now open for the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board Community Volunteer Awards 2019. If you know people or groups that deserve recognition and that are making a difference with their selfless service, nominate them now.

Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board Chair Lemauga Lydia Sosene says that volunteers play an important role in a society and it needs to be acknowledged.

“Without the ongoing commitment and strong support of volunteers in our local community on a weekly basis, sports clubs, schools, churches and community groups would not be able to complete a number of key tasks of their functions.

"Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board recognises the enormous contribution of volunteers’ valuable time and effort and believes it is important to acknowledge this,” she says.

Nominations close 28 February and winners will be announced at a special event in March.
