Leave the car at home this Sunday and take advantage of free public transport across the city to celebrate Auckland reaching 100 million passenger trips on public transport in the past 12 months.

From the first service to the end of the day, all buses and trains, along with some ferry services included in the Auckland Transport network will be fare-free

Chief Executive, Shane Ellison says that Sunday’s fare-free day is a way to thank Aucklanders who have been a part of achieving the milestone.

“It’s also a great opportunity for Aucklanders to try public transport services which have changed dramatically over the past decade.”

Stacey van der Putten, Group Manager of Metro Services says that extra staff, including Transport Officers will be at key locations to make sure everyone stays safe and gets where they need to go.

“Say hello to our staff and feel free to ask them questions.”
