Meet us at the Home Show
Tikanga, Kosher and Stella, Auckland Council biosecurity dogs, are heading to this year's Home Show

Auckland Council is once again taking part in the popular Auckland Home Show 4–8 September at ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane.

Staff from the Pest-Free Auckland, Home Pool Safety, Consenting, and Waste Solutions teams will be on hand to answer questions about their work and offer advice.

The Waste Solutions team will be showing Aucklanders what happens to their waste after they put their bins out on the kerb and encouraging Aucklanders to rethink what they do with their waste.

The team will be sharing ideas with Home Show visitors on practical steps they can take to support Auckland to reach its goal of zero waste to landfill by 2040.

Parul Sood, General Manager Waste Solutions says there are lots of easy ways for Aucklanders to reduce their household waste by making the most of council’s range of waste services and by taking a few practical steps to do things differently.

Staff from Building Consents and Resource Consents will be available to explain the ins and outs of the consenting process and answer questions on the Unitary Plan while teams from the council’s home swimming pools compliance team and Drowning Prevention Auckland will give advice on pool safety, the rules around pool fencing, and the dangers of unattended pop up pools as we head into the warmer weather.

The Pest-Free Auckland team will give up to date information on progress in tackling the many aspects of pest management in the region.

Sure to be a visitor favourite will be the attendance of Pest-Free Auckland’s cute biosecurity dogs which are used to sniff out pests.

Brett Butland, Pest Free Auckland director, says that more and more Aucklanders around the region are actively controlling pests and weeds in their backyards and areas that are special to them. In three easy steps, everybody can create a pest-free haven.

At the Home Show, staff will be able to describe these steps and how Auckland Council can assist.
