Santa has had a helping hand to make sure he can pop in and see Papakura families ahead of Christmas.

Papakura Local Board has transferred $2500 from its local grants fund to its partnership fund so it can allocate the money to Father Christmas.

Santa needed a bit of extra pocket money because Papakura Christmas Parade organisers were faced with increased costs.

Papakura Rotary partners with the board to deliver the popular annual event, receiving $15,000 towards operational costs.

But now Santa faces extra costs associated with traffic management and safety plans, advertising and post-event clean-up and while his Rotary elves normally help with any extra costs, their own fundraising event was cancelled this year.
