Exhibition: Tau Atu e! by Bethany Matai Edmunds

Tau Atu e! is a solo exhibition of works by fibre sculptor Bethany Matai Edmunds, materialising her journey of returning home to the lands of her tupuna.

Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, she has realised a long-time desire to return to live in Muriwhenua (the Far far north), to physicalise her connection to the place of her ancestors and her inherent sense of self and identity that ties her to her iwi of Ngāti Kuri.

The exhibition is an exploration of whakapapa, history and materiality from the natural environment, depicting stories through woven objects and sculptural installation.

The exhibition will open on Saturday 12 February 2022 at 10am. Please join us in welcoming this exhibition to Fresh Gallery Ōtara. Nibbles provided.
