Join Kaipātiki Project, as we work to transform a once neglected urban stream area into an abundant and biodiverse natural reserve. With your help, we will see this through.
Volunteering days will be hosted every second Saturday of the month over the year 2022.
Learning opportunities are ingrained in each event, so that you come away each time with a deeper understanding of the project itself, and of restoration work in general in Aotearoa.
It is an opportunity to positively and directly impact your local environment, to connect with nature, and to meet other like-minded people in a proactive setting.
You are welcome to attend just one or all of the events.
Things to bring:
- suitable closed-toed footwear – gumboots or boots
- clothing appropriate for the weather
- reusable water bottle
- sun protection
More about the project
Since March 2019, Kaipātiki Project has had the privilege of working with mana whenua and members of the community as part of the Eke Panuku Development Auckland "Unlock Northcote" project.
Our aim is to boost the mauri of the stream, improve water quality and allow it to become a habitat for birds, insects, and tuna once more.
It will reconnect the community to this lost environmental taonga through the wider stream daylighting project.
