Our Pasefika Specialists and Pasefika Librarians within Auckland Council libraries will be showing how through different mediums we as people of the Moana are able to express "stories" passed through generations through contact and continuation of traditional practices.
An event created to connect us to the past, strengthen us in the present and give us confidence to see the future.
There will be three stations for you to experience what our Libraries are able to offer through:
- Audio and Visual Recordings from community leaders speaking on their experience as Tangata of the Moana within their fields of work and expertise.
- Visual Displays of photo and video content of our Moana peoples that you are able to access from our Libraries Research Collection. There will also be curated book displays to encourage the usage of our collection on our People of the Moana.
- Live Activations of music and performances, and interactive workshops that will be catered to our rangatahi.
The event is suitable for all ages, we encourage you and your aiga to come and experience what our Libraries have to offer for our people of the Moana across Aukilani.
This event is part of of Auckland Council Libraries’ We Read Auckland | Ka Pānui Tātau i Tāmaki Makaurau.
