Since 2000, Tempo Dance Festival has showcased inspirational dance artistry in Tāmaki Makaurau to reflect the rich cultural dynamism of our country. We celebrate the vitality of dance in Aotearoa, offer dance artists a platform and infrastructure to present their work and bring transformational dance experiences to diverse audiences and communities of all ages.
This year, Tempo celebrates the past as the means to move confidently and innovatively into the future - ka mua, ka muri. Twenty-two years strong, we honour the rich legacy of Tempo by continuing to foster creative, resilient and positive relationships within distinct dance communities and ecologies of Aotearoa.
E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā waka, e ngā maunga, e ngā mate, e ngā iwi hurinoa i te whenua nei, tēnā koutou katoa
We acknowledge tangata whenua and the privilege we have to share our love of dance in Aotearoa.
Tempo Dance Festival: Te Rerenga o Tere represents our current journey reimagining what a dance festival can be within the landscape of a pandemic.
With 8 beautifully unique events from 28 September - 8 October, there's something for everyone of all ages.
