Brought to you by Tāmaki Makaurau theatre collective Call Your Friends, New Play Sundays is a series of readings of new New Zealand plays and screenplays.

Join us for four Sunday afternoon sessions, showcasing works-in-progress by local emerging artists.

Held at Auckland Central City Library, Event space, Ground floor.

November 20th: Champions by Isabella McDermott, directed by Harriett Maire

Four emerging visual artists are vying for a prestigious award. When one finalist rejects a proposal to split the prize money, they are set on a crash course of ruthlessness, betrayal, and destruction.

November 27th: Fringe by Mary McCormick (Quarterfinalist in the Fresh Voices, Bluecat, and Austin Film Festival screenplay competitions), directed by Laura Trundle

April tries to make it in the big leagues with her best friend at the Edinburgh Fringe. But when she unexpectedly starts a whirlwind romance, she’s forced to choose between two worlds, before she loses them both.

December 4th: Eleanor Crane by Alex MacDonald (Finalist in ScreenCraft’s 2020 International Stage Play contest, shortlisted for the Adam NZ Play Award), directed by Ryan Dulieu

A beleaguered music executive is forced to confront the ghosts of her past after a video of her kicking a child pop star triggers the wrath of his loyal fans, turning her into a viral sensation.
